This Spring, South London artist Tom Cox is launching a new series of rainforest inspired artworks in his latest solo exhibition: SANCTUARY
Nature offers us the space to reflect, connect with one another and ease the pressures of our fast pace city lives. In the last few years this has become more important than ever and Tom found himself drawn increasingly to capture scenes of local parks and woods. This led him to travel to Costa Rica to explore its lush tropical rainforests and gain inspiration for a new body of work.
Throughout the pandemic, visiting parks and woods offered us the space to reflect, connect with one another and ease the pressures of lockdown. During this time Cox’s paintings began to focus on scenes of nature and in January 2022, Tom travelled to Costa Rica to explore its lush tropical rainforests and gain inspiration for this new body of work.
“By capturing these scenes of undomesticated nature I want to evoke the senses of adventure, joy, and renewal; for the paintings to serve as a tonic to modern life.”
The exhibition will mark the first anniversary of Cox’s Crystal Palace gallery.
